WOOD RIVER RURAL HIGH- BOYS. BASKETBALL TEAM, 1989-1990 

To honor the Wood River Rural High Boys Basketball Team for 1989-1990 a Named Fund was established with the Wood River Community Centennial Foundation.  Over the years I enjoyed watching the Senior members in the various sports, and that is why I wanted to honor, the Senior Members of this team.

From little league baseball, Legion Ball, football and basketball, it was fun to watch these boys develop their athletic skills. The first time our team appeared on the floor with their black shoes we knew we were in for an "exciting season."    Coach Dale of, the "Hoosiers' said  it took five players: to make a team, and when these members played together the team was fun to watch.

The Senior Members of this team included:

Number 32 Derek Apfel
Number 52 Tom Van Winkle

Not only were the team members athletes, the members also appeared on the Honor Roll throughout their high school career*. While sports are important for a time, the academics will help them chose their future rolls in life.Because of this I would like this Fund to be used for a program or equipment to benefit the Wood River Rural High Student Body.

I am aware that there were other members of this team, but this fund was established to honor these boys who I. enjoyed watching in their growing years.

I will continue to watch their progress in life and again wish them success as they make plans for their future..
