George and Genevieve (Schutte) Maloney

George Maloney was born    and died December 10th , 1985. Genevieve (Schutte) was born  March 25, 1916 and died June 5th, 2003. They are buried at the Wood River Catholic Cemetery.

George and Genevieve were married February 20th, 1939 in Lawrence, Nebraska. They lived in Lexington, Nebraska. There they lived on a farm and raised cattle.

Their family consists of two children, a daughter Bernetta and a son James along with five grandchildren and then great grandchildren.

After farming for 37 years they retired and moved to Wood River in 1976. They made friends quickly and were involved with the senior citizens center. George especially enjoyed singing and dancing in the Senior Citizens band. They even played Mr. and Mrs. Claus for the Head Start Preschool.

They really enjoyed fishing and built themselves a house in Republican City to live in during the summer. They would spend hours fishing and have a few trophy fishes hanging on the walls.

Gen liked baking pies and made several different types. She was a good cook and could make the best fried chicken.

Their family, including grandchildren and great grandchildren, brought them so much joy throughout the years. They both enjoyed gardening both vegetables and flowers. It seems their interests were much the same, as they also both enjoyed fishing, card playing, and visiting with family and friends.
